Native pest species aren’t the only ones you need to worry about as a homeowner. Many homeowners also end up needing Monmouth County pest control services due to invasive or non-native species. These are just a few of the more common invasive species in NJ:
Asian Tiger Mosquito
These mosquitoes are known for their black and white striped legs, which sets them apart from native mosquito species. Asian tiger mosquitoes can be more of a threat than native mosquito species since they bite during the day and can carry West Nile virus and other diseases. These mosquitoes only need a small amount of stagnant water for laying eggs and are known for being very difficult to control.
Emerald Ash Borer
Emerald ash borers have shiny green coloring that has a metallic look and are capable of doing a lot of damage to ash trees, especially during May and June. Emerald ash borers have only been in NJ since 2014.
Asian Longhorn Beetle
Asian longhorn beetles have black and white coloring, including white spots on their back and black and white bands on their antennae. These beetles are a threat to trees in NJ, especially from May through October, and can end up killing them.
If you have a problem with non-native pests, contact Allison Pest Control. We offer Monmouth County pest control services for native and invasive pests.
